Sarah Peterson is the Land Use and Sustainability Project Manager at Detroit Future City (DFC). In this role, Sarah provides technical assistance to community-based organizations and create community-focused educational programming, tools, and resources for green space projects. This role also has a special focus on environmental and landscape planning, design, implementation knowledge, and support for vacant land, open space and climate resiliency research and publication work.

Before this position, Sarah served as Landscape Designer at Hamilton Anderson Associates, where she provided expertise in ecology, stormwater, land management and design to enhance the sustainability of projects across Detroit and facilitate community engagement to ensure community needs and visions. This work and her previous experience with collaborating with architects, engineers, and planners has further implemented her long-term support for green spaces.

Sarah received a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Conservation Ecology from the University of Michigan. She also received her Bachelor of Science, specializing in plant biology, from the University of Michigan.
